Phoenix /fēniks/: (in classical mythology) a unique bird
inhabiting the Arabian Desert that burned itself on a funeral pyre before

This isn’t mythology, it’s war, and Hendy is left in the
hands of Hell’s cruelest gatekeepers.
His team is killed before his very eyes, and despite his
efforts to save them, he’s captured and subjected to merciless torture—losing
virtually every piece of his identity but his pulse.
After his rescue, he returns home from Afghanistan, saddled
with facing the daunting task of healing his physical scars as well as the
invisible ones—his emotional demons.
Dr. Presley Cole isn’t one to shy away from a challenge.
Embarking on a new journey, she makes it her mission to prove to Hendy that his
life isn’t over; that he’s worthy of love.
Because sometimes even a phoenix needs help to rise…

My Review
I feel like I’ve been waiting FOREVER for Hendy’s story, and it was so worth the wait!! He is so freaking perfect. The author touches on his insecurities, in ways that I’m sure every wounded warrior feels, and she handles the writing of it with class and style, and also creates the perfect heroine for Hendy. Presley is sweet, but knows just how to handle Hendy, and how to show him how strong he really is, regardless of his insecurities. Add in some awesome friends who, while hilarious most times, touch on some very deep emotions, and you’ve got the ultimate wounded hero book.

I loved catching up with previous character, meeting new ones, and getting to know some characters who have yet to get their books a little bit better.

A phenomenal read that I would highly recommend!!
